Yom Kippur Day / Yizkor Thursday, September 16, 2021 | 9AM - 11AM
Discounted price of $25 a person if you RSVP and attend the FREE JEC Evening of Inspiration on Sunday, Sept. 12, 8PM-9PM.
The JEC High Holiday Explanatory Program was created and designed to add meaning and understanding to the High Holiday services. Typically, attendees are Jews living full, or part-time in South Florida, who do not belong to a local temple. The service is very user-friendly, with everything explained in English.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are men and women seated together at the service?
Great question! While the rabbis that perform the service are Sabbath observant, the service itself was created for Jews of all backgrounds and affiliations. The service has mixed seating and is conducted almost entirely in English.
Is there a program for children?
The JEC runs a children's program on both the first day of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur day. The children's program is available for children between the ages of 5 and 13. Any child under the age of 5 can be registered for the childcare provided.
I grew up reading everything in Hebrew. Is this service going to be too basic for me?
We believe that what language we pray in has little to do with the importance of prayer itself. More important are the feelings we have while we pray. We conduct our service to give a deeper, more meaningful and enriching experience to the attendees. Praying in our native tongue allows us to understand the meaning with our prayers. Coupled with the running commentary we provide on the prayer service, our program leaves attendees with a deeply profound experience.
Does the registration fee really include all available services? Both Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur? What's the catch?
It certainly does! We have one fee that allows attendees to attend as much or as little of the High Holiday services we offer. There is no catch. We keep the charge affordable because we want every Jew in Boca Raton to have a place they can afford to attend for the High Holidays.
